Editor's Picks: Kotur
If you haven't yet heard the name Kotur, then perhaps you haven't been paying much attention to what's been going on on the red carpet for the past decade. Kotur, launched by Fiona Kotur in 2014, has been a mainstay on the glamorous red carpets since its inception. It's not hard to believe, considering Fiona's family pedigree; her mother a fashion illustrator and respected interior designer in New York and her sister an editor at Vogue for 15 years, now Creative Director at Town & Country. Great style is literally in Fiona's blood. Since 2004, the Kotur brand has grown into a label that offer so much more than just 'red carpet clutches'; Kotur has recently launched a line of gorgeously colourful and textured shoes and they've expanded their handbag collection to include larger shapes that can also be used for day, but still designed with Kotur's glamorous aesthetic in tact. They've also recently found immense success with their #GetSmartBag, a minaudière/phone case hybrid that looks like a simple gorgeous box clutch from the front but also houses a case for your phone in the back. Genius. So genius, in fact, that Kotur has got a patent pending on the design. Their Fall 2o14 collection was filled with art deco influences and flapper details. It's perfect for the holiday season, and at their typically affordable prices too (prices range from US395-1200). Here at Stylecab, we can't wait to get our hands on one of these styles this winter.
The 'Merrick Geometric' clutch is a favourite from their Fall 2014 collection.
Kotur's new shoe range is full of colour and texture, in particular, these 'Guzel' stilettos are undeniably fun.
The 'Espey' clutch from their holiday collection features surrealist details.
This 'Xanthe' heel would be just perfect for the holiday season.
We love the oval shape of the 'Tsarina' minaudière and the tassel adds a great touch.
Kotur's #GetSmartBag made a huge splash last season and has sold out literally everywhere. You simple can't get your hands on it anymore. Which is why Kotur is making it a again this season, in a variety of colours and textures from embossed metal to colourful glitter to bright snakeskin.
So why is the #GetSmartBag so popular? It operates as a phone case/minaudière in one: from the front, it looks like a simple box clutch style but, upon closer inspection, you'll find a compartment to hold your smartphone in the back. Currently the bag is only available for the iPhone 5, but the brand has assured us that they will also be releasing styles for Samsung phones and the iPhone 6 shortly!
